The Occasional Angels

Hey rockers…I know, I know, it’s been awhile.  Sometimes though, I hear something new and the words start to flow.  In this case, it happens to be new music with an old soul.  And baby, The Occasional Angels have soul.

Upon first listen, I was immediately seduced into submission and lifted on a cloud of sound that is reminiscent of the rhythm and blues I used to listen to on AM radio.  For those of you under the age of 45, AM radio is not the morning show on your favorite radio station.  AM radio is the band of radio that filled our homes before the mid to late seventies and played all those easy listening hits from mixed genres including rock, country, blues and r & b.

It is well known that listening to a song from your past will evoke old memories, making them fresh again as it transports you to a place and time when that particular song was prevalent in your own existence.  Regardless of the fact that this was the first time I had ever heard original music by The Occasional Angels, they were somehow able to take me back in time to the backseat of an old chevy with steamed up windows and a young man’s hands desperately trying to unlock the mystery of my bra hooks….good times!

The music and incredible vocals of The Occasional Angels in itself breaths new life into something that, for me anyway, is comfortable and recognizable.  It’s comparable to finding an old friend and picking up where you left off as if no time has passed in between the last time you were in their company.  It lends a new twist to young ears that do not have my decades of listening to music behind them that is mature and loving in its expression.

I very much enjoyed listening and look forward to the singles they promise to release each month leading to the release of their second LP later this year.  Have a listen…if you like it too, maybe you might want to join me for a little candlelight and wine.  I would absolutely love to create new memories to be later remembered with faraway look and a shy smile years from now when I listen to The Occasional Angels…… 😉
